Huntington Social Security Hearings And Appeals Attorney
If you have applied for Social Security Disability benefits and been denied, you are not alone. Many claims are denied in this initial phase, and a series of additional steps are available to win approval of the claim.
Turn To An Experienced Charleston Area Social Security Claims Lawyer
At the law offices of William L. Redd, Attorney at Law, we have more than 35 years of experience pursuing appeals of claim denials for people who cannot work due to disabilities in West Virginia, Eastern Kentucky and Southern Ohio. Prompt action is necessary, because strict deadlines are in place. Having professional representation on your side may be critical.
Hearings And Appeals At All Levels · We Go The Distance For Our Clients
After denial of your claim for either Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI), the first step in appealing that decision is to file a request for reconsideration within 60 days of your claim denial date. If this is unsuccessful, the remaining available steps are:
- Requesting a hearing before an administrative law judge (ALJ)
- Asking for your case to be reviewed by the SSA Appeals Council in Falls Church
- Filing an appeal in U.S. District Court
Appeals are handled online, and many people do not have the computer access or knowledge to submit them properly. Further, no one should go into an SSA hearing without qualified representation. Although this is presented as a non-adversarial process, you will very likely be asked questions you do not know how to answer. Vocational experts may testify that there are many jobs you could perform.
We will go the distance for you if we believe you qualify for SSD/SSI disability benefits. For existing clients, we have taken cases all the way to the Appeals Council in Falls Church and to District Court. However, please note that we will not be able to represent you if you have decided you need a different lawyer or representative after an unsuccessful hearing before an administrative law judge (ALJ).
